Last week, Glasgow played host to some unexpected visitors — and no, not another cold snap. Instead, Clyde welcomed two iconic guests from past Commonwealth Games: Perry the Bull from Birmingham 2022, and Borobi the laid-back koala from Gold Coast 2018.

Things kicked off on Monday when Clyde stood patiently on the Glasgow Central Station platform to meet Perry. True to form, Perry leapt off the train full of energy – hugging strangers, chasing pigeons, and nearly getting distracted by cakes and pastries in the coffee shop window.

Clyde, trying to be the sophisticated tour guide, managed to wrangle Perry around the city for a few classic Glasgow sights before the pair made their way to the Glasgow 2026 office. What for? Hard to say. But there were definitely a few whispered glances and one suspiciously long look at a whiteboard.

On Tuesday morning, Clyde was back on arrival and hosting duties – this time at Glasgow Airport, waiting with a hastily drawn BOROBI sign. Sure enough, in rolled the blue koala, and casually wheeled through arrivals on a luggage trolley like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Reunited (or, more accurately, united for the first time), the trio wandered the city – Borobi still jet-lagged, Perry still trying to hug everything, and Clyde definitely questioning previous life choices of inviting the pair to Glasgow. Eventually, they made their way to the Global Radio studios for a visit to Heart. The three mascots didn’t say much (they rarely do), but somehow, they all seemed to understand exactly what was going on.

A few dances, some dramatic pointing, and one particularly long group nod later – they were off again.

Now back at base, the trio have been spotted deep in discussion (the silent kind) and pouring over documents (the kind with lots of pictures), the boardroom is out of bounds for the rest of the team and they won't tell us why...
